I spent the better part of saturday, all day sunday and a bit of this morning with Valentine. It was ..... utterly relaxing.
I'm still holding the line on jumping in. He does make it hard though. Saturday night as we were drifting off to sleep he mumbled "I love you Uni". It was just so who he is. He's made up his mind and even if I don't or can't meet him half way he's going to say it. I mumbled "I like you too". He leaned closer and asked "what?" I smiled at him and told him "I like you to" again. We both giggled.
Don't get me wrong. He's not perfect. I discovered that he watches hokey bollywood movies and even knows the words and dance step to one of the numbers in it. Arrrgghh! He insisted we watch it, and sadly I only made it about 1/2 way through.
Where he doesn't fall down is where it counts. All weekend he was the one who cooked the meals and cleaned up. He even served the food to my plate. He was respectful of the fact that I fall asleep earlier than him and made sure not to bother me while I slept.
Over the weekend we went on a hike that challenged me, wandered through a farmer's market, I taught him to bake bread and spent part of an evening playing words with friends on FB. He insisted that we go to his local bar so that he could introduce me to his friends. Made sure the girls at his local starbucks knew who I was. Wanted to take me to his church but somehow the morning got away from us.
The thing about valentine is that he is so far from anyone I've ever dated that I find myself completely off balance. Yet with this small preview I think it may be possible to dare to be happy again. Not yet, there is still some real life wait and see that needs to happen.
Oh, and in his usual adoreable way, he was crushed when I laughed at his garden. It was the tiny flower beds on the patio behind his townhouse. I laughed because the way he announced it's existing led me to think it would be rows of carefully manicured veggies. I will make it up to him by bringing him a potato vine plant to plant by the trellis that he has over his BBQ. That way this summer he will have a little shade and a pretty smelling patio.
Well things are getting interesting :)
I think it's kinda fun that your not in your comfort zone. It's does you good to step out of norm.
