Teacher "Blacklisted" For Being A Past Hooker

She didn't actually do anything wrong. This is beyond unfair but hey it's what you get along with your Christian morality codes. Sucks for everybody and I feel awful about it but this isn't any different from any of the other strictly religious issues we have in this country/world and it doesn't make me feel any worse than the fact that we demonise abortion, gay sex or stem cells. She kinda needs to get in line and understand I'll solve her very real problem after I get to the ones hurting millions every year. It might be long wait for a train don't come though.

Abortion, gay sex, and EStem cells should be demonized as they are until somene with an L in front of their name cries civil rights. She did do something wrong, she broke the law and took a dangerous risk. But who better to teach kids how to walk through a minefield than someone who has all ready walked through it. This post doesn't give a high-five to prostitution, it is more about forgiveness.

We need more Christian morality codes not less.

Oh I did. I was just pointing out the fact that if we "are" a Christian nation, the idea of "forgiveness" really should be practiced more is all. I do agree with what you said. It ain't right that the girl can't find work at her chosen profession because she participated in the oldest profession. :)

I also agree with sean that she didn't do anything wrong. I'd be willing to bet the ones who bought the sex she was selling were also the ones that ostracized her. It's sad, really.

Lastly, I want to point out that the idea of a just God and a merciful God are contradictory, for to show mercy means suspension of justice. Just sayin is all.

LOL. Millions of youn girls survive everyday without becoming a hooker or breaking the law. Well I'm only partially concerned with the law here cus the law should be changed. It's a stupid law that doesn't do anything except curtail freedom and endanger millions of young women. As for millions survive, yeah they do. But millions are on food stamps, millions live with their parents, millions live off their boyfriend, millions do become hookers, millions are in porn and millions are nurses. It's a job. It's how we get by. Don't drop your silly christian morality around, particularly not if you're gonna double down and claim we should be independent of our government. You didn't go into details but I'd guess she didn't get a lot of government aid and she managed to make it on her own. Congratulations should be in order not condemnation.

I disagree that mercy and justice can't exist in the same being. The word your searching for grape is vengence. We have a bad habit of thinking jutice and vengence are the same thing but they aren't.

Well, I finally found the article and this was actually in a public school in the Bronx, which is actually a pretty diverse community. So we aren't exactly talking about the bible belt here. It also seems that she was actually fired more for posting her previous employment stories online, apparently also while the investigation of her was taking place. I'm guessing that posting stories about your sex life and identifying yourself could get you fired from any job.

Fine line issue here. Technically she committed a crime. Who's to say that what she did was worse than what other teachers have done. Rather than firing her for her off duty activities (which were done in poor judgement) why didn't they see if her past adversely affected her performance of her current job? I'd rather have an ex-hooker teacher than a pedofile in the classroom. Just saying.

I can't imagine how you guys are saying she did nothing wrong. Girls have been murdered on Craigslist plus prostitution is dangerous on a lot of different levels. She can relay such a message and use her checkered past as a source of good and this is why I think it was wrong for her to get fired. But still cut the crap, a woman selling sex is demeaning and so far beneath our ladies. These are future mothers and grandmothers here.

I think it's just one of those hard tragic lessons in life. Had she made better choices earlier, she wouldn't be in the position that she's in.
