CPAC Convention

CPAC which stands for conservative political action committee, but instead should stand for conservative people acting crazy. After listening to all the political hacks accuse President Obama of being responsible for every thing that is wrong in our society I thought I would do a little research and compare him to his predecessor and here is what I found.

He didn't allow an attack on our soil from foreign sources. He didn't turn a surplus into a deficit in less than 2 years. He didn't fight two wars not accounted for in the budget. He didn't lie about WMDS and send 5000 thousand to die in an unnecessary war. He did seek, find and kill the murder of over 3 thousand Americans. He did not expose a CIA agent and then pardon the culprit. He didn't allow vice President Biden to become the surrogate President. He didn't allow a complete American city to be destroyed due to his inaction. He didn't lose a pallet containging 12 billion dollars that was intended for Iraq. He didn't cause a total economic collapse. He didn't loose 8 million jobs. He didn't allow tortue euphemistically call enhanced interrogation on his watch. No foreigner has thrown a shoe at him. He didn't declare mission accomplished while the war is going on. He has bought a 100 thousand troops home from Iraq war.

That resume alone should get him re-elected.

(1) Bush didn't allow an attack on our soil from foreign sources. It happened and would have happened no matter who was president. Also in this case foreign sources is a bit dishonest. They were terrorists and only barely connected to any given country

(2) Bush didn't allow a city to be destroyed due to his innaction. He honestly made what should have been the best possible call which was to let the locals handle it. They failed in rather spectacular fashion and anybody with a brain knows that you shouldn't trust someone from a Red State to to tie their own shoes but still.

(3) The vice president is supposed to be a "surrogate" president. The fact that we treat the VP as the least important person in the country and really just an official encase something bad happens is frankly a bit of a shame.

(4) Citation on the pallet of 12billion please. That sounds. . .unplausible

(5) Bush didn't cause the total economic collapse either. Clinton did. Bush was just the poor sap who got stuck holding the bag. The eight million jobs lost were part of that.

Sean you're entitled to your own opinions but not to your own facts. The President is responsible for the security of the nation through his selected delegates of the FBI, Military, CIA and an Intelligent expert at his side at all times. No the attacks didn't just happened they were caused by a lack of proper security. You can't say that we weren't warned because on file in the congressional report a female agent sent correspondence up the line to her supriors stating the nature of the attack. Remember Condilizza Rice under oath admitted to the report but did not think they were serious enough to take action. You can delegate authority but you can't delegate responsibility, it happened on his watch.

The department of Army engineers declared the levees not dependable to perform the task they were installed to do in 1964. I know that there were several presidents prior to Bush but again it happened on his watch and he had not appropriated any funds for their repair. The Levees had to be repaired with an emergency fund appropriation. Again it happened on his watch, if this had occured under Obama they would have impeached him immediately. I know presidential candidates declare themselves to be a panacea for all the nations ills, so they have to take the bitter with the sweet simply because it happened on their watch and the only people who use excuses are failures who need them.

The American public doesn't elect a vice president, because if the Presidential candidate looses then the vice doesn't occupy the office. By the constitution he is only a surrogate at funerals and other civic or ceremonial functions and to break a tie vote in the Senate. No where in the constitution does he gather false intelligence for the purpose of starting a pre-emptive war. Oh! by the way he was intrusmental in outing a CIA agent it originated from his office. Don't take my word for it consult the archives of your local news paper or the pentagon department military pay to see if it was true that 12 billion dollars were lost in transfer.

Again you are denying the facts Clinton left a budget surplus and had been out of office 8 years prior to the economic disaster. This is how it happened Bush gave a 3 trillion dollar tax cut to the rich, started two wars never placed on the budget and accounted for on his watch. Don't forget the 760 billion dollar bail out of the financial and mortgate institutions on his watch. Remember John McCain thought this vote so important that he stopped his campaign to vote for the bailout. He might have been a sap but we don't elect sap to sat by and watch things deteriorate we elect them to improve the situation for the American public. Regardless of how the 8 million jobs were lost we know without a doubt that they were lost during the Bush presidency.

(1) Bullshit. You don't blame the fighter for getting caught by a sucker punch. Shit happens and there is nothing you can really do about it. That wasn't Bush's fault and it's not like flying planes into buildings was a regular tactic at the time.

(2) It's true the levees were shown to be inadequate. But that was shortly before Katrina. I haven't seen anything supporting the idea that they would have held in 98. In the short and immediate run Bush told the Govenor and Mayor they were in charge. Good fucking call since they were closer to the problem. I suppose you can blame him for not having hindsight but that aside he didn't fuck up.

(3) The reason the public doesn't elect a Vice President is because it turned out to be a bad idea to have to different factions in the White House. Not because the Vice is supposed to be anything shy of guy number two. The fact that he becomes president if the president dies is a fact and not a "mistake" not that it's ever happened but the fact that the Speaker becomes President is a mistake. Perhaps one that needs fixing perhaps not but still.

(4) Whether or not Clinton had a surplus is up to debate. Regardless it's better than anything Bush did. That doesn't change who deregulated the banks which was Clinton.

Calling it a 3 trillion dollar tax cut is at best dishonest. Had the economy expanded it wouldn't have caused a problem. It's a little like blaming a sale for a lack of revenue

(5) I suppport the bail out as a whole. It probably could have been done better but we don't have the infrastructure in place for it. McCain was not a sap. He simply wasn't enough to stop Obama but he wasn't a sap.

Sean your name should be charlie alibi you have more excuses than Carter has little liver pills. You have an excuse for every thing regardless of the facts. Since when does one get elected to do the same thing his predecessor did, don't we change administrations in hopes of making things better and hollering oops is not a valid reason for screwing up or allowing a screw up. The buck stops with the one in charge regardless of what his predecessor did. Just think in 9 months once again we will have the choice of picking the lesser of two evils.

sean_renaud said 3 months ago ...

They aren't excuses. They are facts.

Like with the terrorists and the planes. We had enough or close to enough security. Terrorists have frankly never been a major threat to this country. You know how many Americans Islamic terrorists (not counting the War in Iraq regardless of who's fighting) have managed to kill? A little over seven thousand. A little over half of that was in a single day. 9/11. Ignoring them was working pretty damn well. Personally while I like the idea of marshalls on the planes if a plane hitting a building, even an important one once every forty or fifty years is the price I pay for not getting raped when I fly, of getting rid of the Patriot Act and closing Gitmo and not arresting Americans without trials. I'll risk it.

And yes we do quite often elect people to do the same thing as their predecssor. That's silly on it's face and you know it. For starters if you look at the history of elections parties quite often get 12 years. Because Bush (the first one) was elected to do exactly what Reagan did. And the major things that got Bush II into the White House was a unique combination of Bill getting a blow job that got him impeached, Bush being a brand name oh and he still barely pulled it and probably would have lost in Florida had Al Gore not made a tactical mistake that allowed the Supreme Court to hand it over to Bush. I'd say it was safe to say that most Americans pretty much wanted it.
