Soon you will not need to go into a warzone Sean. We'll just arm these little bastards (or bigger versions of the same)and let them tear through the enemy bots for us. We'll sit safe in our fortified bunker and watch the destruction on wide screen.
Now that is cool...
But you're always going to need boots on the ground to occupy a territory. Even if the scorched earth is not worth anything.
War on a robot scale. Maybe we can just sit home and watch the earth die while making microwave popcorn, and then read about it on our internet news. Oh, wait. Maybe we are already doing that, as long as there are places where the scorched earth is worth something.
I think at some point in a war you do have to actually kill people. Now maybe we could mitigate this to an extent by getting together for the Robolympics or something similar. You know everybody brings out their toys goes back sits down while rationally pointing out that my army would whomp your army and thus we you should stop taking that tone of voice with me.
Hi Grape.....Who knows if boots on the ground will always be necessary. 200 years ago it would have been unthinkable that military commanders would be able to see the enemies military formations from satelites placed in space. They were still trying to say that man couldn't fly. Now drones carry out bombing missions whilst the pilot sits thousands of miles away out of harms reach. It may not happen in our lifetime but I wouldn't rule the possibility out.
Hi Wombie....Terminator is just around the corner, Well the scorched earth might be worthless but what's underneath it could be worth a fortune :)
Hi Sean....I think your right but we might not need to do the actual fighting. Just the dying of being maimed bit. I kinda like the robolympics idea. We gotta test our shit somehow. Nothing like showing the enemy how our robots will destroy your robots before slaughtering you to make people think twice. Besides it can be fun watching shit getting blown to pieces.
When do I get mine and can we equip them with guns or cameras? Or both? I think it would be pretty bitchen even if it gave away my position to run into a warzone empty my backpack and have eyes on info on where people were.
