I thought McCain was a RINO? He probably beat Romney because he was a better RINO.
For starters its important to point out why you're wrong as often as possible. Also I'm only a liberal by the crazy stance here that not being to the right of Washington makes you a liberal. I'll go check out Newt's solutions which I'm certain already are laughable as the only thing that could drive down prices are price controls and death panels and I'm sure he hasn't suggested either of those but still.
This is also about we told you so. If we can predict the future as consistently as we have and you're wrong as often as you are shouldn't you start working with us and trying to meet us halfway instead of stubbornly going with something we can already tell you isn't gonna happen?
I think what you should do instead of voting is sit home and cry like you have been since the start of the GOP race for Obama's job. Romney is about as much a RINO is GW Bush. You are just pissed because you can't get over the fact he is Mormon. Newt is unelectable he got a bounce because of Perry and Santorum is big joke and if us Republicans keep fucking around and listening to these people who are going to vote for Obama regardless then someone like Santorum or that moron Paul is going to get the nomination which means another 4 years of Obama. Romney with a strong running mate has the potential to be another Reagan.
Now before you answer this PLEASE read about Romney. Read about his healthcare law in Mass and his proposed plans for repealing Obamacare and what he is going to replace it with. This country is slightly right of center it is not a far right country. Romney fits right into the slightly right of center that appeals to most Americans.
I mostly agree with you outlander :)
One question, what does he want to do on healthcare?
Wow. Bravo outlander. I think you should sum it up as ALIENated the reason the party and the party "elites" are pushing the guy who's a RINO is because there are no people like you. You're just very loud and your mistaking an echo for a confimation.
Reck-Repeal Obamacare first, then put healthcare back in the hands of the states followed by a series of important reforms that deal with costs, taxes, the pre-existing condition problem, tort reform, and other things that will work.
Sean-I agree with my fellow right winger and am needling him because I think he is full of shit and will vote for Romney if it comes down to a Romney vs Obama. Right now what Alien and a lot of other Republicans are doing is just making us look in disarray and creating more independents and they need to join with us and others and get behind one candidate. If Ann Coulter and The Heritage foundation don't convince him Romney is conservative enough I don't know what will.
Romney is far from perfect and there are positions he has taken in the past I didn't agree with but when it comes to getting shit done I think he is the best for this country. I honestly believe Gingrich or Santorum could win (doubtful of Santorum) but I think it would just be more gridlock in Congress.
Those are talking points, not a plan. Also, going back to a system that allows denial of coverage for pre existing conditions and that will kick 20 year olds off their parents insurance will never pass.
reck-I'd call that plan summary. There is a fix for pre-existing conditions and it is addressed in Romney's plan.
Putting health care in the hands of the states is frankly stupid. We aren't a 50 countries with an alliance. We're one country. The sooner we do away with states all together the better off we'll be in pretty much every way.
That is ridiculous. There are things that can be passed in California that would never make it in Alabama. Plus healthcare needs change by different demographics. A group of people living in Wisconsin are probably going to have more healthcare issues than people living in sunny Florida.
Except that only make sense if you have a tough federal plan to force people to use only what's available in their state. Sure if you live in California or Texas you might not really have the option but on most of the east coast driving to another state is a 45 minute jaunt. What's gonna stop all the New Yorkers from taking a cab to Jersey? What's more is that it would make a more conservative state look better and neighboring liberal states look worse. What other conclusion would you draw from the numbers when New York shows up spending a fifty percent less money on a larger population than New Jersey particularly if there was no way to prove that all the poor in New York simply drove to a place where they could get better treatment?
As for things that pass in California vs Alabama. For starters California is clearly a better state but even if it wasn't that's just how democracy works. You're in the minority and as long as you're not being discriminated against but simply out voted fuck you. Shut up and join the herd cus that's how democracy works.
I haven't seen any reason to believe that Wisconsin is a less healthy state than Florida, and stats suggest that people go to Florida when they retire when pretty much says they probably have MORE health problems there but meh.
Can the Federal government handle giant bureaucracies? NO. Social security, medicaid, medicare, work but are technically disasters. It makes more sense for the federal government to assist states in forming healthcare plans that fit that particular state. I wasn't comparing states as one being better than the other. Wisconsin has a lot more cold than Florida so we can assume they probably have slightly higher healthcare costs. Getting people to stomach gay marriage in California is easier than getting it in Alabama. Different demographics, geography, climate, etc all can be factored in. This is why it is so difficult to pass a healthcare on a Federal level.
Social Security, Medicaid and Mecare work and are only disasters in the I wanna hate my government anywhichway I can sort of way. Otherwise they are beloved programs that keep millions from dying in the streets lower unemployment, raise upward mobility in this country and do a lot of good. Sure there is a certain amount of waste and fraud in each one but thus far nobody has even proven that it would be cheaper to find the waste and fraud than to ignore it.
No we can't assume that about Wisconsin. Florida has a lot more beach fronts so more shark attacks, more drowning. They have a lot of cuban gangs and they have higher population density so I'd be willing to bet that health care as it results from violence and drugs is probably much higher there. PRobably a higher STD rate etc etc.
Getting people to stomach gay marriage in California vs Alabama that's the problem with being the minority. Sometimes you have to shut the fuck up and deal with what the majority want it's not your choice. Too much legal stuff comes along with being married for your marriage to not be valid depending on where in the country you happen to be at the time of an action. If you wanna argue that the government should get out of marriage all together and just leave it as religious ceremony with no additional legal rights that's a sound argument. And when you put that on the ballot I'll be right there behind you. Hell probably infront of you. But otherwise 50 states have to have one policy. We're not 50 separate countries with a loose alliance. We're one country with some artificial lines left over from the land before the internet and the plane.
I'sn't Newt a RINO? He as for the healthcare mandate in the 90s!
