An Easy Way to Find Out When Life Begins

First buy yourself an incubator and 21 fertilized chicken eggs. You can easily order them through the mail. A human pregnancy is three trimesters and a chicken embryo takes three week to hatch. So you could assign one week to each trimester. Each day crack one egg and take a look, better yet, fry yourself up some scrambled eggs. See at what point you become uncomfortable with the task.

I'm guessing there are some sadistic individuals that will have no problem with all twenty one days, but the rest of us will stop somewhere in the first two weeks. I couldn't do it after the first day, but that's me.

Also, for all you pro-choice vegetarians out there, ask yourself if you could eat cow embryos.

I'm with Hilary Clinton on this particular topic. I don't like abortion. I wouldn't have an abortion, although they termed my miscarriage a spontaneous abortion. I know there are times when it is necessary, tubal pregnancy for example. It needs to be safe, legal, and extremely rare! If I could underline extremely five times, I would.

and what about embryonic stem cell research?

starchini said 26 days ago ...

I had to laugh out loud at "for you pro-choice vegetarians out there" and giggled and said to myself, "Gee I wonder who she is talking about, tehehe."...

Ill try and speak for vegetarians (minimal experience) who are so for animal rights and not for medical reasons and say generally they have a problem with torture and mistreatment of the animal not necessarily the death of the animal...

Its still a good point though faerie, definitly offers up a new perspective...me, I have trouble with watching little chickens piled up on their dead brothers and sisters pecking at their own broken limbs and guts coming out of their stomachs, not so much with cracking open an egg...having not done the experiment of course I would wager I would have a problem with it the moment it began to look like a chicken, if its still all yolk im fine.

One time a robin egg fell out of a tree in my back yard, the egg was broken and inside there was the teeny tiniest most adorable little bird, dead...made me sad.

OOOOPS, just realized I called you faerie and not feather, my bad-sorry.

"Also, for all you pro-choice vegetarians out there, ask yourself if you could eat cow embryos."

The funny thing is that this questions poses more problems for the meat eating pro-life people than it does for use vegetarians. How could it be wrong to destroy 8 cells, but OK to treat animals the way we do to produce our food?

starchini said 26 days ago ...

Oooo good question. Im really liking this comparison...very interesting...Yea, how can meat eaters sleep at night knowing that chicken sandwich from KFC was the product of terrible terrible animal abuse. Dozens of chickens in wire cages mashed together pissing and shitting all over eachother, injected with hormones that make them so fat they cant even walk, hung upside down and feathers ripped out of them while alive, that pain is the equivalent of us having a fingernails ripped out. Yet think its wrong to abort a human embryo?

Feather,We have a vietnmease Clebriety cook her in Australia who done a tv doco in Vietnam and on one show he ended up eating out of the shell chickens that had developed to the pin feather stages in the shell i not sure if he boiled them first but he cracked them like a boiled egg and peeled the shell off and ate them like a boiled egg feathers and all ,my point is it's all relitave to your upbringing and the country where you live has a large bearing on it . Blue.

You'll get no arguement from me about mistreating animals, whether you're going to eat them or not. I don't think either is "ok". But I haven't eaten cows, pigs, lambs, or any other mammal for almost twenty years. I eat very little poultry and fish. I actually eat vegetarian most days. I have friends that raise meat chickens and treat them well. If they weren't slaughtered they'd die of heart attacks at twelve weeks.

Star, I've been called worse! I dislike factory farming more than I can say. If you want cruelty free meat, find a farmers market and read up. There are a lot of misconceptions out there.

feather said 26 days ago ...

Bluegum, I find that horrifying. Ewwww!

starchini said 26 days ago ...

what misconceptions? I guess I dont know what your talking about...Cruelty free meat comes from small farms, and free range farmers and hunting...Im sorry I dont have time to read up on these things, just tell me what I would read if I did, ill believe you : ) Im in the practice of believing people until they are unbelievable...

grapekoolaid said 26 days ago ...

The dish Bluegum is talking about is called balut). It's popular in the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam. Considered an aphrodisiac.

feather said 26 days ago ...

I don't carre what it's for, yuuck!

Star, one oof the biggest is that the eggs at the grocery store have embryos. You need a rooster to have fertilized eggs and those hens never see a rooster. I laugh at tbe vegetarian diet also. Chickens wil eat anything, even mice. So yoou can't have free range chickens eatinng a vegettariann diet

sean_renaud said 26 days ago ...

Where in the vegetarian creed does it say they can't eat an animal that eats other animals? I thought that was just more of a "tradition" amongst humans that we mostly eat herbivores and omnivours but that I always assumed had more to do with the fact that carnivores had this nasty habit of fighting back.

feather said 26 days ago ...

I should clarify. It says on some egg cartons "Free range chickens, all vegetarian diet", which isn't poossible.

sean_renaud said 26 days ago ...

Or at least isn't particularly plausible. I'm not sure how many chickens are going to hunt down mice when they are being fed on a regular basis. Course I haven't spent a lot of time around chickens, maybe they would just for the change of pace.
