grasping at straws 1. To depend on something that is useless; to make a futile attempt at something. 2. Trying to find some way to succeed when nothing you choose is likely to work. 3. Trying to find reasons to feel hopeful about a bad situation. Wow, that not only fits Obama, it also fits Obama supporters who are depending on something (or someone) that is useless. Obama is trying to find some way to succeed when nothing he chooses is likely to work. And the dwindling number of Obama supporters are trying to find reasons to feel hopeful about a very, very bad situation. Some of those followers around here keep throwing up charts that fudge the numbers to make Obama look good. When, in fact, he has spent more in three years than most presidents spend in eight years, and he has basically achieved nothing except force Obamacare through against the will of the people, which is likely to haunt us (debt wise) for years to come. Oh, he has been successful at keeping the unemployment rate high. And he has definitely succeeded at making it harder for businesses to succeed or want to hire more people. Would you want to hire more people if you saw the waterfall up ahead? America seems to be recovering somewhat IN SPITE of Obama's Socialistic dreams for America. He and his followers should realize by now that most Americans misunderstood what Obama meant by "fundamentally change America". Oh my god, did they. The only way I want a presidential candidate to use the word change is "change things back to the way they once were." I want to go back to a time before sin was upheld by the Supreme Court (like murdering unborn babies and homosexuality). I want to go back to a time that the president tried to help Americans and tried to get them working, not create agencies that were two goose steps away from being a Nazi SS team (think EPA) or by taking over companies and giving them to the Union of Socialist Workers. I want to go back to a time when there was freedom of speech instead of politically correct speech or "hate" speech. What a joke. When people start losing in the arena of ideas, they start trying to MAKE you shut up, trying to control what you can say and when you can say it. Try mentioning Christmas as your local government school. I want to go back to a time when government schools taught reading, writing, and arithmetic, and kids were not forced to pretend they are Muslims and recruited to become Muslims. Those are the ones becoming the domestic terrorists. Not the guys that legally buy guns to protect themselves against the ever growing crime in this country. I want to go back to a time when criminals were the bad guys. These days, it is not that uncommon for the victim to become the bad guy once the Liberal media gets through with them. I want to go back to a time when the mainstream media, like the CBS, NBC, or ABC evening news, reported the NEWS fairly, honestly, and thoroughly instead of being a Liberal / Socialist / Democrat cheerleading team while trying to smear every Conservative / Republican that comes along. I could go on and on, but you already know all this. We have all become wards of the state whether we like it or not. Even Republicans are looking for the candidate that will offer them the most. If you listened to any of the Republican debate in Florida last night, you heard the candidates lecturing each other on promising things they cannot deliver and that they should not be promising anyway -- because WE ARE GOING BROKE. Of course, Obama is doing it worst of all. It is like the dottering old codger who still wears a tuxedo and top hat and pretends to be rich when he is dead broke. And I love to hear the Obama followers as they grasp at straws and pretend Obama "is not that much of a Socialist, but actually pretty close to center instead of being to the Left". What a crock. Where would we be if the Republicans had not taken back the house last Fall? (Not that they are doing what they said they would do.) All I can say is, if Obama is not that much of a Leftist Socialist, why do Democrats / Liberals / Socialists give a flying fuck about him? That makes absolutely no sense. But that reminds me of one more thing I want to go back to ... a time when Republicans did what they said they would do (like Ronald Reagan) instead of wimping out and doing what Liberals do. As someone once said, I suppose I and wish in one hand and ....
I want to go back to a time before a lot of these things, but I'm not sure exactly what date all the insanity started. It might have been a Thursday......
Crankier version of Michael Savage? Wow, that is pretty cranky. Yeah, it is hard to pinpoint when all this started, but the FDR years would be a pretty good guess. We are like the frog in the warm water. We are being lulled to sleep as the water gets hotter and hotter. We will all be boiling before we know it.
Except the part where that's laughable. Life for the average American improved under FDR so much that they kept electing him and the programs he created now are so loved that pretty much only ALIENated really talks about ending them. Even the Tea Party is staunchly behind Medicare and Social Security.
All I could find is that the Tea Party wants to overhaul Medicare and use the Ryan Plan. We would be better off if neither of them had ever been created. Just as we would be better off if insurance had never been invented. We have medical inflation because of Medicare and medical insurance. Obamacare is going to do the same thing that Romneycare has done in Mass., ruin the healh care system. People will be covered, but like in Mass., they will not be able to find a doctor that will take them. My clinic just sent me a letter that they no longer take Medicare, which means Medicare does not pay what they want and it is probably trying to dictate fees to them. I still have insurance at work so I am not too worried about it now. This is all just problems caused by government and now they are pretending to fix THEIR mess. And you are a sucker if you see it any other way. I am sure you will mature with age as I have. Right now you know everything there is to know, but those of us who really do know everything see just how much you have to learn. ha ha ha
I can remember when we just paid the doctor out of pocket and we just had major medical insurance. Those were the days. Our family doctor had no receptionist, his office was in his home, and he dispensed your medication right in his office. I remember him poking his head out the door and saying "Next, please."
"Two goose steps away from being a Nazi SS team" made me laugh out loud. You're like a crankier version of Michael Savage! lol
