The weather has suddenly switched from tropical to cool and brisk ... not sure how long it will last, but I am loving it.
I started my Sunday morning with a walk along the trail that runs beside the river. It was so beautiful and quiet, except for the birds and this crazy "thoop" type noise that has been a mystery for months! Turns out it's the noise made by the toads - I made the Bear come out with me on Friday night to see if he knew what it was. I guess I spent too much time in the city and watched too many cartoons. I fully expected the toads to say "ribbit," or better yet, "Bud" "Wise" "Errr"
There were deer along the trail as the sun was getting brighter. I even got to see a mom and a baby - so cute!
I've changed my route because of the new apartment, but secretly, also because of the turkeys up at the creek. Apparently, the turkeys crave Spanish food because I have been chased a number of times, which is quite embarrassing considering our relative sizes! There is no dignity in running from an animal with a brain the size of a lentil, but what's the alternative? They look kinda vicious if you ask me, and I plan on having my revenge with a side of cranberries come November.
Anyway, I am allegedly getting ready for church right now - as I sit here in my sweats surfing Yakkstr! ;)
Unbelievable how I spent most of last year crying that I wanted to go back to NY - now, I wouldn't trade this for the world! I still miss my family and friends, but I don't miss dodging taxis and smelling garbage on my morning walks. I would rather watch the sun shimmer on the river and do battle with the turkeys.
Geese are vicious too. I've run from many forms of fowl! lol The sounds of the countryside are so relaxing. The original "white noise" as it were. I can see why this life is something you'd want to hang onto.
