My Lunch:
A small Spring Mix Salad with Low Fat Red Wine Vinagarette Dressing, a pinch of organic Shredded Cheddar & free range Grilled Chicken with a garnish of Pickled Baby Corn.
Pounds lost so far using common sense and a wonderful app I found on the Android market called NOOM 6 pounds, in 3 days...
I have been eating healthier for a while now but it was only after downloading Noom I decided to log my weight and keep track of how much i've lost.
A simple tip to eating healthy at work:
I bought a package of 5 small/medium ziploc bowls with lids, and 5 teeny tiny (2 mabye 3 oz) ziploc bowls with lids.
At home I put the dry ingredients of my salad in the container, the salad (dur), the chicken & or cheese maybe a few whole wheat croutons or baby corn, this takes maybe 2 minutes maximum. Then I fill the tiny containers with the healthiest best tasting dressing I could find and place those containers in with my salad before putting the lid on my salad.
Then I dump all 5 of my salads in a plastic bag and take'em to work and put them in the work fridge.
So simple, and when I get tired of those salads ill come up with a different version. I tell ya what though, im totally digging this red wine dressing might be a while before I give up this 200 calorie version.
The Noom app also helps me excersize, I can pick a workout from a long list and when I push start it keeps track of the calories ive burned by being its own motion detector/pedometer.
Last night I burned 300 of the 800 calories I consumed just by running laundry up and down my stairs for 30 minutes.
Pretty awesome.
star Good for you! Very motivating post. Eating healthy could sometimes seem to be complicated but it's actually simple if you make an effort to be creative.
Your reminded me of what I read again recently, about a study that said keeping a journal about your training, will aid more to it's success than if you don't. Also it will contribute in keeping you focused and consistent.
This is what I am currently doing. Obviously everyone knows here how I like journaling but it's a different discipline to do journaling about your training or what you do for your health in general on a daily or simply regular basis. I begun with it last year as I took running, and chose active.com just because I stumbled upon it first and it's simplicity clicked with me right away. You can create goals there, and log your progrss; at the beginning I kept it to three:
doing any kind of physical activity/exercise for 30 minutes
eating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables
drinking 8 glasses a day
Later on, I added more.
This a long story but to cut it short, I reduced all those goals to one for now, starting this January, and will continue doing so until I have fully recovered from this pesky cold virus and stresses of daily life. Not that I am no longer eating healthy or have totally stop drinking water or not doing any of those other "deleted" goals, but I felt overwhelmed with journaling about it. I needed a bit of distance, and simplifying makes me regain motivation with new vigour.
