At a community breakfast on Saturday, listening to some people complain, you would not believe that our government is own by the American public and it's the way it is because of the people we elect to represent us.
A lady tried to lecture me on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae's problems and believed that Senator Dodd and Congressman Franks was the sole reason it passed to increase owner ship for the poor who were not able to pay their mortgage. I was alarmed by her ignorance of our political system. When I told her regardless of how bad she thought the legislation was, it was voted on by 60 Senators and 218 congressional representatives to become law, and that both of our Senators and district representative had not only voted for the bill but received mortgage's under the provision that gave preference to elected politicians. The Congressman complained about the law but if the law was so egregious why did they vote for it. In listening to our congressional representative he sounded like a little boy who had thrown rocks and was trying to hide his hand.
