In 2008 we all watched as John McCain became the Republican candidate for president. Then McCain made it even worse by picking Sarah Palin as his choice for Vice President. So we had an old white guy running against a younger "black" man with a running mate (Palin) who, for some unknown reason, totally infuriated the Democrats / Liberals / Socialists and their mainstream Liberal media. The last few months we have watched as that same Liberal media and the Republican Party, and probably the Illuminati have tried to force Mitt Romney on us just as they did John McCain not that long ago. However, this time it does not seem to be working. Is is really possible that Republicans are learning from their past mistakes? I am talking about Republicans that do not answer to the elites in Washington D.C. Also, it should be pretty obvious that Romney can only get under 30 percent of any vote, poll, or caucus. I am starting to think that would be true even if he was the only one in the race. On top of Romney's percentage cap, Perry endorsed Gingrich when he bowed out last week. Can you really see Rick Santorum or Ron Paul endorsing Romney when they end their campaigns? I cannot see that at all. They might simply endorse neither candidate, but I cannot see them saying they back Romney. Consequently, Newt will be the Republican candidate. I do not know if he can beat Obama. That will depend on how stupid Liberals / Democrats / Socialists are and how lazy Republicans / Conservatives / Independents are next Fall. And that could be pretty stupid considering Obama won in 2008. Of course, as I said then, we had Tweddle Dee and Tweddle Dumb for our two choices. At least this time, if Newt does become the Republican nominee, we will have a clear choice -- a rabid, moronic, inexperienced oaf and an intelligent, Conservative who knows exactly what he is doing and has proven he can run the country as he did in the 1990s when the Democrats offered us that other moronic oaf, Clinton. (LBJ, Carter, Clinton, Obama ... are you starting to see a pattern there?) Newt is not my first choice, but he is the only Republican left that I will make any effort to go to the polls to vote for in the primary or the general election. If Romney is the guy, he will not get my vote. Maybe if the Republicans lose twice in a row by trying to force a RINO on us, they WILL learn their lesson. If not, maybe we do need a new Conservative party to run someone against the two Liberal parties.
In a later post I have said I will not get off the couch to vote for Obama or Romney, if they are the choices. Both parties can suck it for all I care. Maybe Romney's loss will teach the Republican elite to stop pushing McCain and Romney types on us. Lots of people who hate Obama and the Democrats and Liberalism / Socialism are not that politically savvy so they listen to butterballs like Carl Rove. By the way, he gave us George W. Bush. Why would anyone value his opinion. Not to mention that the Liberal media salivates with Romney wins because they know Obama will wax Romney. How can Romney ask Obama if he still beats his wife when Romeny is a known wife beater (think Obamacare and Romenycare). Romney is the white version of Obama. This is all sad but true. Romney is Mr. Twenty Something Percent, and that is all he will ever be. Not to mention his disturbing religous beliefs, which turn most mainstream Christians off from the get go.
Sittin on the sidelines whining about a few disagreements is the same thing as voting for Obama. Your country deserves better. I assume you like your country or you wouldn't be here. Or are you just venting and you don't honestly give a shit? Do you think we can survive with another 4 years of Obama?
As I have said, no one wants Obama out more than I do, but I am tired of the Republican elite coming up with candidates, like McCain and Romney, that cannot win. I simply feel that going to vote for Romney will be a waste of time -- he will not win. Of course, my area and state alway vote for the Republican anyway so we will not be the ones that cause Romney's loss anyway. I do figure that a lot of disappointed (intelligent) Democrats will sit it out, too, for similar reasons.
It is a statistical tie right now between Obama and Romney and Obama has very little to run on. I think a lot of those disappointed Dems would vote for Romney because he can be a moderate whereas I don't see a single Dem voting for Newt.
I am not wild about a lot of the moderate stances Romney has taken but at the same is was a Republican in one of the most leftists states in the entire union. Whatever someone's politics are the overall goal is to get shit moving. Obama being an inexperienced leftist is not as bad as his poor leadership which is causing nothing to get done. I am not a fan of Newt but I would certainly vote for him if it came down to him and Obama.
I wouldn't classify Romney as a RINO. He is definitely a moderate. I think the Mccain/Obama thing came down to Obama had carisma and McCain had none. Mix this with Obama's use of the media to blame the financial crisis on Republicans and we have what we have now. Make no mistake I think Newt is fully capable and would make a great president. I think Romney can win some of critics over whereas I think Newt will always be carrying these haters he has for as long as he is in politics.
My big issue with your opinion and where I disagree with you is: If you had to pick between who you wanted to run the country for 4 years and your only two choices were Obama and Romney who would you choose? I think you would choose Romney and there is a reason. Right now you know Romney is not going to allow anything pro-abortion, you know he has the executive experience to cut taxes and spending, you know he is not going to pussify America or back down from some of the lowlifes around the world. At the same time he is moderate enough to work with Congress to get shit done. We aren't going to get a perfect President but we can get one that gets shit done. Not voting for Romney and allowing or risking another 4 years of Obama to me is bad. A no vote is the same as voting for a bad politician.
Plus it is still early. Imagine if Romney chose Rick Perry as his running mate. With Perry's record in Texas I think that would be a powerful thing.
