The Lightness of Being on the Bike (19.01.12)

00:05

Thursday

Side remark: I can't believe I am seeing Thursday ,even though I write the days for the date on the logs, myself. :D Somehow the days rushed again, and a part of me is standing on Monday, asking "Heck, where did you go 'self, wait for me!" lol

Speaking of speed!

I used to bike 5kms over 45 minutes almost 2 years ago (in June), now I bike it in 23-25 minutes and getting faster. :)))

Today, I keep smiling about this fact as I go through the same route, passed by same spots that terrified me, and I just go on rolling with my wheels, on and on happy to be gliding.

I have to write this down to remind myself that it took me almost 2 years to get to this pacing with my bike, and that I should not expect that it would be different with running.

It takes time to be fast, to be "fearless", and the deeper the satisfaction is when the goal is reached.

The amazing thing is, how it could take you by surprise that you finally reached it because your focused has been in enjoying the moment and not keeping eyeing how fast the others are at running, biking - OR simply everything that you can think of in life that others seem to be doing faster than you.

When you fear something, the best way to conquer it is to face it. It's the fastest relief from all your misery. Promise.

This is also a personal reminder for me to check on my heart rate after a bike ride. Momentarily, I still have a country bike, but will be investing in a mountain race bike in the future (I had one in Germany but it's a long story to share tonight...)

pacing with the bike

Great job on the progress, very admirable. :-) Big lesson, encompassing many areas, that it takes time to get to where you want to be, it does not happen over night. Something for me to keep in mind during my weight loss journey, it's not gonna happen over night, but every small accomplishment means monumental amounts.

I will keep trying to remember this, because I sure need it. And I sure need to remember that I don't need to worry about the others who are in the running. You rock!
