Government is much better at making the world a worse place than it is at
making it a better place.
That is the basic principle at the heart of political differences, in my humble
opinion. Liberals think just the opposite. They want government to do
everything for them, to make all their decisions, to take all their money in
taxes (well, everyone else's money), and to dole it back out as government
sees fit.
Conservatives are just the opposite, at least in theory (I think what passes
for Conservative these days is much more Liberal than it used to be). They
want people to have jobs and provide for themselves. They want to give
little to government because they want government to be little (small) and
uninvasive. They do not want to be told what to do (whether they can buy
and keep a gun) or what they think should or should not be moral. They
look to god and His teachings to figure that out.
Liberals want the government to tell us all what is and is not moral. So,
consequently, they do not even want God to exist, never mind being
mentioned in public (government) places. That, of course, leads to getting
rid of churches and religous teachings (the Bible, etc.) all together.
The path of strictly Right / Conservative and the path of striclty Left /
Liberal both lead to ultimate, predictable conclusions. The Left / Liberal
path is easily demonstrated by looking at history. Such times as Nazi
Germany or Communist Russia. Yes, they are both examples of the State
running everything. Most Liberals like to think that Nazi Germany was an
example of Conservativism run amoc, but it is simply an example of Big
Government run by mad men.
A more fitting example of Right / Conservatism run amoc would be the
Amish or one of those religous groups that still build their own barns,
do not use electricity, and drive horse drawn carriages. Granted, most
hip, modern Americans even if they are Conservative do not want that
kind of existence.
That is what all this electing of representatives is all about. We do not
have a Democracy. That would actually be mob rule. As it is, the big
states like California, Texas, and New York (at least population wise) have
two Senators and so do small states like Rhode Island and Delaware. If
everyone had an equal vote, it would be like that recent movie where
the final decision came down to one man and his vote that breaks the
tie. Instead, we elect representatives that go and "protect" our interests.
It is not a perfect system, but it is all we have, and it is the best system
any humans have ever come up with. You may not agree, but that
would probably be because you have wandered too far down the path
to the Left or to the Right.
I have been around long enough to know that things usually work out
for the best, but sometimes they do not.
"It was the best of times and it was the worst of times." That is also a
tale of two philosophies -- Liberalism and Conservatism. Both have their
strengths and both have their weaknesses. But the good news is, we,
The People, get a hand in deciding what happens. Or we used to.
People like Obama want to stop all that. Only We, The People, can
stop him and them. The only problem is, sometimes we are not really
given anything to stop them with. And this presidential primary season
is again proving that fact. Thank you Republican Party and Democrat
Party, for that matter, for offering bumkus ... again.

The amazing thing is that the Liberals / Democrats / Socialists can run a total loser like Obama who has zero experience, goes to a racist church for years, hangs with known terrorists like Bill Ayers, bows to Muslims, snubs and criticizes Americans a
"Government is much better at making the world a worse place than it is at Making it a better place"
This is obviously false. There are plenty of places around the world that have no government. They are all hell holes. Every place that is nice to live has a large central government.
