This and That

Lets talk about how amazing my son is!

He is turning out to be a pretty independent little man, that can only mean that he feels totally secure and safe. He used to bug the crap outta me when I was trying to cook, I hear sometimes about parents letting their kids get involved in making dinner and cooking and what not. I have tried that before, the only thing Remington successfully helped with is making a huge mess. Sometimes im ok with that, when we are cooking electively in the evening as a sort of activity. However when im trying to create dinner and put it on the table by 6:30 he simply cannot help me and normally doesnt even want to, he just tugs on my clothes and stands there whining and whining and whining until I cave and go play with him there by letingt my food burn and the gravy boil over. He sorta got over that though, most times I can just ask him, "Can you go play by yourself while mommy gets dinner ready?" and he will nod his head and run off to battle with his dinosaurs and puppy lil. I was pretty flabbergasted the first time he did that. So now im usually able to make dinner in peace.

We are back on with him being totally potty trained, those three nights in a row must have been some sort of fluke or temporary stress, cause he hasn't done it sense. I still get really excited when he walks up to me holding his butt and says "poo". Sooo cute. This momma is so proud.

We realized though that having a potty trained toddler means I have to carry a toilet seat with me. He normally pees standing up but lots of facilities have toilets that are crazy high and his pee pee doesnt reach the top. He also has to have things a certain way, im happy to oblige, however he wants to do it im fine with. I dont interfere, he has his way and it works. He has to do it alone. With his pants off. I am only allowed to be present for him to show off his accomplishment. He will let me pull his pants down but I have to leave, then he yells "Ma" and I come back in, clean him up and ooo and ahh over what he has done then he will flush and he washes his own hands his way, then I wash them the right way, then we fight about rinsing, then he dries them and we are ready to go. You can see how this sometimes gets complicated in a public restroom. If Im not armed with my own toilet seat I have to hold him up to pee, and he wont go all the way, its uncomfrotable and I prolly would have problems with it too.

I used to have a portable toilet seat, it was thin and hard plastic that folded up 4 ways and fit nicely in my purse...the problem though, it broke. Remi was using it at a scuzzy gas station, the kind outside the building that require a key attached to some gawdy "no one would run off with it" thing, like a plastic hunting duck or a "clean" toilet seat or a long metal pipe. This particular station had the key attached by a rope to a hunting duck. Remington was much littler then, only about 25 pounds and the toilet seat broke! Snapped right out of the joints and buckled underneath my little baby, Remi's little but splashed right into that nasty toilet water...I was so upset and grossed out i swore off "Super easy portable make your life easier toilet seats"..So now on a long road trip where I know a number 2 is a certainty as well as too tall toilets I bring his seat from home.

I dont just carry it around with me, but its in the car. Turns out this past weekend when we were in O town for my nephews baptism, we were eating at Red Lobster and in the middle of dinner Remi lets out a burp and says "Poo"..."You have to go poo?", he nodded his head yes. So Phil ran out to the car and grabbed the white cushy toilet seat with little yellow ducks painted on it and carried it through the restaurant, to our table, picked Remi and and carried the seat all the way back through the restaurant and took Remi potty, brought remi and the toilet seat all the way through the restaurant again and back to me and finally all the way through the restaurant again to put it back in the car...I almost wet myself when I saw everyones faces of shock and disgust when they saw the toilet seat, lots of people were laughing and trying to hid their giggles and smirks.

Im fine with it though, we gotta do what we gotta do, im not gonna let my son shit himself just because its not proper ettiquette to bring a toilet seat into a restaurant for all to see. I blame the economy for making such shitty portable toilet seats. If my son broke one when he wasnt een 30 pounds there is no way im going to give it anoter try when he is 40 pounds.

I did learn that Remington's taste in cuisine is as rich and expensive as mine is. He absolutly adored Lobster Bisque. How many 2 year olds do you know that slurp down an entire bowl of lobster bisque as if it was divine? He also loves Crab Cakes. This was my meal, I ordered crab cakes and a bowl of Lobster Bisque. I ordered Remi a kids meal of Chicken Fingers, Broccoli, and Macaroni and Cheese. He poo pooed all of that as though I was trying to serve him shit. He had a taste of my bisque and lit up. We traded....He ate it all...Now I know, dont bother with kids meals, order him whatever I like. lol...He wouldnt even get me a bite. I would ask for one and he would bring the spoon up to my lips but when i opened my mouth her pulled it away, smiled and took the bite himself...Little stinker.

He is liking day care, he has no problems with me leaving him in the morning and I've actually gotten him to answer my questions, "Do you like Diane?", "Did you have fun?", "Did you nap?"...things like that. The answers are always different. Sometimes he likes diane sometimes he doesnt. haha. Same with me, ill ask, "Do you love your mommy?" and he will shake his head no with certainty, then ill ask, "Do you love lamp?" and he will shake his head yes with passion...I think its hilarious...

Thank you woman, but none of those things you experienced apply to my brother and his wife. Its their first kid, they acted like this since his birth, like I said-they are pretty uppity. By that I mean superior snobs that I love dearly. This has been read the rest
