sbt problems

I'm trying out scala and the initial experience isn't good. It seems that most of the scala world is using sbt as their build tool, and it fails right out of the box. I followed these instructions and I get the following error.

:: USE VERBOSE OR DEBUG MESSAGE LEVEL FOR MORE DETAILS download failed: commons-codec#commons-codec;1.2!commons-codec.jar Error during sbt execution: Error retrieving required libraries (see /Users/jaydonnell/.sbt/boot/update.log for complete log) Error: Could not retrieve sbt 0.11.0

It's looking for commons-code in the local maven repo, but it's not there, and it doesn't try to get it from a remote repo. There is probably a better fix, but I created a new maven project and added commons-codec as a dependency then used maven to isntall it. Once there sbt works fine, but someone that doesn't know maven will have a hard time figuring this out.

I thought the scala eco system would be more polished than this at this point.

Fareed Zakaria: A quick fix to our short term deficit problem
"Were Congress to do nothing and let the Bush tax cuts expire and return rates to what they were during the Clinton era, that would generate an estimated $3.6 trillion in tax revenue over the next decade, largely solving the short-term deficit problem."

It's entry level assuming some foundation. I forget the specifics, but I was required to take a certain amount of math before taking it, so if you go to college for it you'll be forced to take enough math before getting to these classes. Btw, I think the read the rest

James Toney vs. Randy Couture
I don't see this fight being that great either way. There are only two possible options I see, toney catches randy and it's a short fight. Randy controls toney and finishes him quick. But, I'm really excited about the edgar v penn rematch, and the read the rest
