Favorite Colors

When we are kids a favorite color is IMPORTANT. I guess it's the beginning of figuring out who we are, seperate from our parents. We start with favorite colors. Mine was always blue. Stayed that way for decades actually. Serene, calming, soft blue. Sky blue or sea blue. I put it up on my walls or down on my floors. I wrapped myself in it and during crazy times in my life it helped calm me. The last decade I found that I have moved to oranges and reds. I love their vibrant feeling and the way they wake me up and energize me. I don't sit and talk with friends about my favorite color anymore. I don't fight for the crayon that will make my paper a little more ME. I guess I know who I am now. But if you are interested. My favorite colors are red/orange. (and I bought an Italian scarf with those colors that just makes me smile) So, what's your favorite color?

simpler times eh woman? I don't really remember what mine was.....I was kind of a fickle kid....it could have changed from time to time. I don't think I could pick a favorite anymore......it just depends on what it's on.

Not really. I don't think it ever really mattered to me as in I don't think that once I got past boys like blue girls like pink I don't think I had an official favorite color. Green was probably it but truth be told enough other people like green (and amongst gamers color is serious business) I tended to default to black for obvious reasons (I am and not fighting over green) again amongst gamers where back in the 90's the difference between your charachter and your friends charachter might simply be the color so it was kinda serious business. At least on par with do we eat tacos, burgers or pizza.

I think that's an interesting thought, and probably quite a bit of truth to it for most. Mine has always been green, various shades. I'm always the one with the green pen, green this, green that. It's just such a neat color, light and happy when it needs to be, dark and serious when it needs to be.

d6~Oh yes. So much more simple. I have been feeling rather overwhelmed lately with the world's craziness and some of my own and thinking of things like favorite colors is a calming return to childhood. I still bet there is a color (or colors) that speak to you. Pay attention and let me know.

woman said 12 months ago ...

Sean, Reading your reply I think perhaps you need some sky blue in your life!! (smile) Thanks.

Hege~When I was young I hated green. I suspect that was because my mother was ALWAYS going on about her green eyes... I like it now. Not all shades but I like it. Looking outside today and seeing so much green is a happy thing too.

Since I was a child red has always been my favourite colour.

I was such a strange child, when my father asked what colour walls my sister and I wanted, she chose pink, I chose red! LOL Fire engine red.

To this day red makes me feel warm, alive, bright, and somewhere in my strange and odd thinking it reflects my smile, if that makes sense.

I don't mind purple, but if its a choise of either or, RED.:-)

I liked this post, made me remember childhoodmagic

woman said 12 months ago ...

Well Ms Lucy Lu, I guess you came into your "redness" earlier than I did. (and yes, I can see your smile in the red glow). And yes, I was going back to childhood innocence, what i more magic than that?? Did your Dad paint your room red?

Blue seems to be a color that is prominent in my wardrobe for most of my shirts with black for trousers, i'v had a couple of red shirts but they don't seem to be replaced .

Colors like pink.green, yellow, purple wouldn't make it to my wardrobe ,right now i'm wearing faded blue shorts with a faded navy blue singlet and a faded green cap with a red hammer on it ,i tell Kinny when she says to chuck out some of my faded clothes, that's my girl attracting clothes ,many a time i'v caught the older lovies, and the not so old lovies look at my attire and hairy chest .lol.

Blue.

Ahhh the simple joy of shapening your favorite crayon. I don't remember it being my favorite color, but every picture I drew had gobs of burnt sienna. I think I liked the name. I went through a blue stage when my life got crazy, it seemed to calm it down some. Now my favorite color is a warm green though a rich jeweltone purple also catches my eye. Not sure what it says about me as a person.

woman said 12 months ago ...

Well Blue, with a name like Bluegum, what would I expect? It is a lovely color and I'm sure you look adorable in your blue faded girl attracting clothes!! lol

woman said 12 months ago ...

Unique~I loved sharpening crayons almost a much as I loved NEW pointy crayons. I loved the name burnt sienna too. Warm green is a nice color for you Uni. I think it just says you have good taste.

Woman ~ Yes, he did paint the room red, and I kept it that colour until we moved out of that hosue. LOL

The innosence of childhood is something we all love to capture as adults, I think it appropriate to remind ourselves not to be cinics, not to allow seriousness and responsibility to always rule our lives.

I keep remembering that I had favorite colors in my color box for my coloring books. I loved the names of them. I think the Crayola people had a hand in my upbringing. I still get a specific feeling from the colors and I still get a specific feeling from the word "drawing."

Wombat, Our "coloring days" are really part of our history, aren't they. You know, freshly sharpened pencils bring back childhood too.
