I've Been a Busy Bee Today

Well, my credit card is smoking a little from overuse. Man, I love online shopping. Really seriously love it. There are several quilting fabric websites that smile when they see me coming.

I spent a couple hours cutting fabric -- let's just say there are several friends who will be getting something from me in the mail, or maybe I should make you wait until Christmas... LOL I had a quilt started, all the fabric cut and some of the blocks done when I looked at the colors and decided why I was unenthusiastic about working on it. I seem to be having an issue with orange and turquoise (or is it aqua? I never know.) So I put it away and am now happily immersed in dark green, red, and black. Then there's purple, green and white.

I spent money today on something I'm trying for the first time. I joined a Block of the Month program. At the end of six months, I will hopefully have a bed size quilt top that looks halfway decent. Every month I'll get the fabric for two blocks. We'll see if I can keep up. LOL Or if I even use the fabric for the blocks. I'm notorious for buying fabric for one thing and end up using it for something else entirely. Lately I've been into making bags -- lots of tote bags and a couple of cosmetic bags. Fairly quick gratification -- not a lot of money or time invested. I even made one for myself with bright colors and all my Beatles themed fabric.

My daughter and several others have suggested I sell them. She said they remind her of Vera Bradley bags. I was totally lost -- no idea who Vera Bradley is. I did finally see some of her bags -- quilted bags that cost a boatload of money. I think I missed the boat when it comes to ambition and marketing skills. Ah well.

Well, so nothing big going on here. Just part of my day.

Money spent on your fabrics is a good thing. Yes, maybe you can sell your bags too. The main thing is that you are doing wonderful things. I don't know either who Vera Bradley is. I don't seem to know anyone famous these days. Only the old ones. lol Have a very good weekend dear Mimi.

Online shopping is a dangerous sport. I hope your wallet was wearing a "cup". ;)

Your totes and bags kinda remind me of Vera Bradley stuff, but I like yours better. And I'm not just saying that. The fact that they're one of a kind makes them even more special.

Sew on! Leave no square unfinished! Bravely go where no one has quilted before! Live long and stitch well! (okay, I'm done now)

I think you should sell your bags too! I know I love mine. :-) Mine always goes with me to flea markets and I use it to pack my latest project with me when I go over to my mom's. My looms fit in it perfectly. :-)

How's that for a testimonial? lol

Have fun with the quilting club. :-)

LOL @ uni and her "sew on" good one!! I have not seen your bags, but I have seen pics of your quilts and I do know you do awesome work. But, I also know about trying to market things... for me, it just kinda takes the "fun" out and makes it a "job". I don't want it to be a job.. especially with all that color out there!! wow!! LOL But, keep up the good work. ;)

This makes me want to put my card into a little use ... I could really use some new books, lol. Glad to hear you're enjoying your wonderful talent though, who cares if ya wind up using something for one thing instead of what it was intended. That's the great part about creative talents like what you have ... you don't have to stay inside the box or fit the mold. :-D
