I sleep through everything. So I use a dvr. Here are some of the shows I dvr.
Pretty much anything about mixed martial arts. Also pretty much anything about K-1, which is basically karate, more or less.
Those very unreal "reality" programs Survivor, Big Brother, The Apprentice, The Ultimate Fighter. Put people together in a situation without a script, and I may be interested in it. Is American Idol considered a reality show? I watch that too, though not for the entertainment. I watch all of these shows because I like to observe people and analyze what's going on.
I used to dvr This Week In Baseball but it isn't the same show it used to be. It used to tell you what happened in the prior week. Now it spends most of its time doing feature stories that I don't find interesting. I find that Asian girl interesting though. If you watch the baseball network you know who I mean. Hazel Mae. I can watch Hazel Mae all day.
If I'm just channel surfing I will likely end up with a science show or a nature show. Sitcoms and cop shows and doctor shows and the like don't hold my interest.
Except for one silly sitcom on HD Net starring a stand up comic from the Bronx named Iris Bahr. She writes and stars in Svetlana, with a sense of humor that hearkens back to the early movies of Woody Allen like Sleeper. I like silly and intelligent comedy. Not that big on Woody's later stuff.
I religiously avoid all news shows except once in a while 60 Minutes. I don't need to see the latest rape, the latest murder, the latest news about Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, don't care a bit about that, don't want to be bothered with Justin Bieber. I remember when news on tv used to have news on it.
It was fun watching TV when there were only few channels and sensible shows. Now with hundreds of channels freely available - all we are doing is flipping the channels. Not enjoying any programme in the real sense of the word.
