Oh What Price Beauty ....

I'm having a pretty sedate day at work. I thought for lunch I'd get a couple of errands done. I had a small list of things I needed to pick up because I've run out of them. I walked to the drug store at the corner from work and started shopping. As I checked out I was a little shocked at how much I had spent!!! All that for beauty and a clean butt?!! Scandalous. I'm going to have to consider just letting myself go if this keeps up.

What did I get? Well, I needed a new lipstain. Okay, maybe need is a strong word. I thought I might greatly benefit from a new lip stain. As I have gotten "vintage" my lips have lost that rosey hue that the young have. I have to help them out or I swear you would think I had a lip-ectomy. There goes $9.

Then there was eyeliner. I needed that because the upper eyelids have started giving the lower eyelids competition. I see eyeliner as the "line in the sand". If I use it, maybe the upper eyelids will respect that boundry. $$7.50. Since I was in the neighborhood of my eyelashes I thought I'd pick up an eyelash curler. I read online that I needed one now that I'm "mature". $1.99.

I have been getting some sun with all my running. I put on SPF 100 but still manage to pick up a tan even though it's after peak sun hours. I don't mind a tan, but I do mind those sun spots and freckles on my face. Solution? Skin renewal with sun damage reversal! They promise to fade sun spots, even skin tones and make fine lines disappear if I use it. (I will just have to live with the deep lines I guess) It has yet more sunscreen so I suppose I can give it a whirl. $13.50.

All that pretty face needs a pretty smile. My old toothbrush is tired. I have to get the extra soft ones because I'm an overly enthusiastic tooth brusher. ;) $4.

No use having a pretty face if those pesky gray (white) hairs make me look old. I have no real idea what my "natural" color is anymore I've been coloring my hair so long. These days it's just about finding a shade that flatters the last shade I used. I can't use the cheap stuff since it does NOT cover my gray. Something about the gray makes it inhumanly strong and color resistant. $10.

I was just about to check out when I realized that I needed toilet paper. I'm not sure how I've managed to go through so much in just a week, but I'm not going to skimp on it. No single ply. No thin as butterfly wings. I may never be rich, but I'll never be poor enough to buy cheap thin bath tissue. $5.

Add the tax and I layed out a wad of cash at the register, just to look pretty and be clean. sigh Seven small items and only 2 of them really neccesary.

I hope the world appreciates the effort I'm going to to present them a pretty face!

LOL, your "stuff" is cheap compared to here.

Lets do a run down (I will convert into US dollars fo ryou)

$24 lipstain $18 Eyeliner $30 lash curler I am not kidding you how you manage to find one so cheap is beyond me $3 this suprised me, a little cheaper $30 Hair dye, this is the good stuff, covers grey $5 loo paper this is for a pack of 4 rolls only and 4 ply soft

Total? $110

Now you know why I don't bother most of the time! LOL

((Pssst, for some reason I was unsubscribed from you between yeseterday and today????))

Lu - OMG! I need to send you pretty girl stuff! Of course, I could spend more, but the quality of the item wouldn't improve much.

IDK how the unsubscribe thing happened. Weird.

lucyt said almost 2 years ago ...

Heck, that foot cream you sent was fabulous, I'm actually draining the las of it now because of the cold weather my feet are socking it up. LOL

uniquely-learning said almost 2 years ago ...

That was pretty good cream. I use it on my heels between pedicures. I hate dry or crusty feet! :P I think I will also cruise the clearance aisle of the shoe dept in your size while I'm at it.

lucyt said almost 2 years ago ...

ohh just so you know, go a half or one size smaller that you have. I'm using a bit of padding in one pair at the back LOL everyone loves my shoes, they're so jealous :-)

I haven't found any of that coffee yet either, can't seem to get up to Mareeba so I'll keep my eye out for it around here. Perhaps go to Port.

uniquely-learning said almost 2 years ago ...

Okay, so 1/2 size down then. Actually that makes it a little easier for me.

I'd love some of that coffee! I'll have to send you some of the stuff I got in Fort Wayne. Both are awesome in completely different ways.

First off-Lorrie. Brace yourself woman because it's not going to get cheaper. The list of items is going to grow every year. Some will become old standbys and some will be new, because you are hoping and praying something will help. I wish you well in your quest.

Now Lucy. I was just amazed at how much you pay for the same items. That's horrid. Can you order from companys here in the states and get better prices. Just a thought because those are crazy prices. Except for the toilet paper. It's plenty here too.

And to both of you. You are too pretty and young to need much. (you might want to start saving though! lol)

lucyt said almost 2 years ago ...

LOL Woman, thanks for that, just makes me feel old and cranky reading it!!

Its expensive here woman because of distance, we pay more for items because were are so remote. I can get them cheaper but have to drive further so its no real saving in the end.

As for face creams a shit, not for me, I have oily skin which is a blessing, the only problem I have with beauty products is that most of them are toxic. So I keep it simple, vitamin e cream, Bio oil and basic foot creams ohh and yes I use rectinol on my puffy eyes LOL Butt cream!

quietone said almost 2 years ago ...

well, about all I use is mascara because if I don't it looks like don't have any mine are so short and light. Oh, yeah, and that stuff for the hair.. other than that.. its all natural beauty from here on out... I prefer the comfort over anything else.. but also must have 2ply~

freedom said almost 2 years ago ...

I just spent about $150 on clothes yesterday. Don't feel bad. That's the beauty of being a girl. Feeling pretty just feels so goddamn nice

woman said almost 2 years ago ...

Well lucy. I used nothing at your age. Wait. and I am allergic to vitamin e creams. Make me break out in a lovely rash. I understand the remote situation and that stores there probably charge whatever they want. I just thought perhaps you could order online and it might be cheaper.

Quietone~You are a brave woman than I am. I don't wear a lot of makeup but I wear more than I used to. I'm like Uni, the color in my lips has faded and being very very pale, I feel like a need something. Aging is such a blast!

Uni~ Where are youuuuuuuuu?

uniquely-learning said almost 2 years ago ...

woman - Oy! I think I am going to drain my 401K if this decline in beauty doesn't lose speed soon! ;)

quiet - I hear you on comfort. If I didn't work in an office environment i'd be bare faced all the time.

freedom - I'm glad you spent it and not me! I'd go into shock if I did that.

woman - I had "company" at work and am cooling my heels pre-campfire waiting for my copilot

lucyt said almost 2 years ago ...

I haven't really tried online, I have this great fear of buying something and then getting it and it turns out shit! LOL I'm an online wuss

woman said almost 2 years ago ...

Uni~ company??? Ok. I'm pretty curious.

lucy- I do not believe for one moment that you are any kind of wuss!! I was just thinking if you knew a brand you like you could order that. What the heck do I know. LOL

hegemone said almost 2 years ago ...

Lol, oh wow, and I entirely love the way you rationalized each item.
