We had been traveling in the camper. First we camped in a valley where there is not habitation. There was a movie being made in this valley by the see but we went further into the valley and stayed there one night.
We caught many trouts there.
Next day we had trouble getting the roof down of the camper down. We meant to meet Pálmis sister and co at his other sisters home in a village near by. We were too late. They were gone.
There was a festival in the town. Each neighborhood had a special color and they adorn their houses in that color. blue, green, yellow or red.
We stayed for a while at Pálmis sister's and we looked around in the town.. The weather was wonderful and everyone was so festive. Olla, Pálmis other sister phoned and invited us to dinner. Her village is about a half an hour away. We accepted.
We got a wonderful dinner, with red wine, white wine and later we sat in the garden with beer. Olla pampered us in every way. I must add that the wine was
home made.
We were welcome to sleep in Ollas house but we wanted to be in the camper and we slept in their driveway.
Next day Olla gave us a wonderful breakfast. We even got dried fish that her son in law had dried. We had all kinds of breads and things on them.
When we left Olla gave us to take home many kids of marmalades that she had made and red and white wine. But before we left she had also baked waffles and whipped cream.
But here comes the story of the bump. My grandchildren were with us and they wanted to go to the swimming pool in the village. This is a town of 1000 people We went.
I had never been in the pool before. I once lived one year in the village but then they only had a very small pool that I visited just once. They did not have hot water in the earth. They are not in that zone but then there was some water found and they build the new pool. It must be 10 years now.
I was swimming happily in the pool. There was no one there just me and the kids. There were some people in hot tups near by. I was doing back crawl and I had flippers on. I looked back each time I did the back crawl , no one. Then I though what a heck there is no one there. I did not look back. Then suddenly bump. I looked back and I was on a man's back.
He said I did not realize how quick you were. After the swim I started talking to him. I knew he was one of the old towers there but who he was I did not know. I said to him whom may I tell my husband who is an old towner here , I bumped into. He asked me my husband's name and I told him. Pálmi had then lived next door to him when Pálmi was a child and when he told me his name I remembered who he was. He had worked in the grocery shop when I was there. We talked about many things and he told me the names of his siblings.
One of his sisters I know from ReykjavÃk. I also once had a funny encounter with her when I had a terrible slip of the tongue. The words came so awfully wrong out. I once wrote about that on SC but it is a bit difficult to explain because of languages. I might try later. I was so ashamed. I have never met her since then and I don't know if she heard it. Oh well. I'll tell it anyway. I met her in a holiday place near by. She talked to me through our car's window. She asked me how old my boys were. I told her. They were teenagers then. She said something about the time flying. And i meant to say it flies fast. In Icelandic Það lÃður hratt. But it came out Það rÃður flatt. Which is litterly They ride flat, and in Icelandic it has to do with sex. Oh boy was I ashamed. I was so shocked. Pálmi put down the window and we drove away to Pálmis village and I was laughing all the time.
It sounds like a very nice time. I love the pictures :)
